Application Owner – Veeva Platform (f/m/d)

The Application Owner – Veeva Platform is responsible for the overall ownership of the Veeva Vault platform at AOP Health. 
This role provides technical direction and governance for the design, deployment, and continuous optimization of Veeva applications in a regulated (GxP) environment. 

You collaborate closely with business and IT teams, oversee platform architecture and integrations, manage key vendor relationships, and ensure that the Veeva platform evolves in a controlled, compliant, and sustainable manner aligned with AOP’s IT landscape and best practices. 

Your tasks

Platform Ownership & Strategy 

  • End-to-end accountability for the Veeva Vault platform design, architecture, and evolution. 
  • Define, own, and continuously refine platform-wide design principles, standards, and methodologies.
  • Own the Veeva platform roadmap in close alignment with business strategy, regulatory requirements, and enterprise architecture. 
  • Enable collaboration across the Vaults to define application roadmaps in close alignment with business strategy, regulatory requirements, and enterprise architecture 

Architecture, Integration & Standards 

  • Define and enforce architecture, data, security, and integration standards within the Veeva platform. 
  • Oversee integrations, connectors, data flows, and interactions with surrounding systems (e.g. ERP, Identity Management, data platforms). 
  • Ensure platform scalability, performance, and compliance in a global, regulated environment.

Governance & Decision Leadership 

  • Lead platform governance, including design reviews, prioritization of changes, and approval of key technical decisions across the Platform (incl. other Vaults). 
  • Serve as point of escalation for complex platform, integration, and compliance-related topics. 
  • Ensure solution alignment with enterprise architecture, IT security policies, and long-term business objectives. 

Business & Stakeholder Partnership 

  • Provide strategic guidance to senior business stakeholders, QA, and IT teams on platform capabilities and solution options. 
  • Act as a trusted advisor, balancing domain-specific requirements (Quality, Regulatory, R&D, Manufacturing) with overarching platform goals. 
  • Proactively engage stakeholders to gather requirements, communicate roadmaps, and ensure solutions deliver clear business value.

Leadership & Enablement 

  • Mentor and guide internal teams, consultants, and configuration specialists on platform methodology, design principles, and best practices. 
  • Collaborate with solution and application owners leveraging the platform to ensure consistency and technical excellence. 
  • Direct and inspire delivery partners to provide high-quality implementations, support, and continuous improvement. 

Compliance, Validation & Quality 

  • Ensure compliance with GxP, Annex 11, 21 CFR Part 11, audit, and data integrity requirements. 
  • Oversee validation (CSV) strategy, execution, and documentation to maintain audit readiness. 
  • Champion quality, documentation discipline, and operational excellence across the platform. 

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Drive continuous optimization of the Veeva platform to improve business processes and operational efficiency. 
  • Stay abreast of Veeva roadmap developments, regulatory changes, and technological advancements. 
  • Promote a culture of innovation while maintaining compliance and stability. 

Your profile

Experience

  • 5+ years in application delivery, platform ownership, or IT solution architecture in a GxP‑regulated, international environment.
  • 3+ years as R&D Veeva Vault Architect or 5+ years as Functional/Configuration Specialist across multiple Vault domains.
  • Strong background in pharma/biotech/life sciences.

Platform & Domain Expertise

  • Deep functional knowledge in at least one Vault domain (Quality, Regulatory, Clinical, Safety).
  • Solid understanding of platform architecture, data/metadata models, workflows and lifecycles, permissions/security, integrations, and data governance.

Ways of Working

  • Experience in complex, fast‑paced environments and driving change.
  • Knowledge of ITIL and service management principles.
  • Experience with Agile and/or DevOps.

Soft Skills

  • Comfortable bridging technical and business needs.
  • Viewed as a flexible, creative problem solver and change advocate.
  • Strong ability to translate business processes into system solutions.
  • Effective communicator and trusted partner for process owners.

  • Due to legal requirements, we are obliged to disclose the collective agreement minimum salary, which is EUR 45.080,- gross per year, based on full-time employment. However, our actual remuneration packages are market-oriented and aligned with your qualifications and professional experience.
